Prairie Central volleyball beat Pontiac 25-14, 21-25, 26-24.

Pontiac girls swimming won its Senior Night meet over Paxton-Buckley-Loda, Peoria and Manual.
In girls golf sectionals, El Paso-Gridley advances to the Class 1A state meet this weekend with a second place team finish at Pontiac. Individuals advancing include Shelby Keen of Woodland and Ali Schrock of Pontiac. Normal Community placed third in Springfield at the Sacred Heart Griffin Sectional to advance to the Class 2A state meet.

The Bloomington Edge 2017 schedule has been released by Champions Indoor Football. The 12-game season begins March 4 and the home opener is against the Omaha Beef on March 18.
The Cubs are moving on to the National League Championship Series. It took a big comeback for a wild ending to cap an intense series as the Cubs trailed 5-2 going into the ninth but scored four times off the Giants bullpen for a 6-5 Game 4 win. Javier Baez broke the tie with a single, his second game-winning hit after supplying the only run of Game 1.

The Cubs wait for the winner of the Nationals-Dodgers series, which goes to a deciding fifth game tomorrow after L.A. won Game 4 yesterday in San Francisco. Chase Utley broke a tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

The National Hockey League season opens tonight as the Blackhawks host the Blues.
