The World Series is even at one game each after the Cubs rebounded with a 5-1 win over the Indians in Game 2. Jake Arrieta took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Kyle Schwarber recorded two hits and two RBIs. The Cubs now have the home field advantage as the series shifts to Wrigley Field tomorrow night for Game 3. Kyle Hendricks is the scheduled Cubs starter while the Indians plan to give the ball to Josh Tomlin.
The Bulls open the season tonight at the United Center as the Boston Celtics visit.
Illinois Wesleyan soccer swept Augustana, 4-0 in the women’s game and 2-0 for the men.
Illinois Wesleyan basketball is picked to finish second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on both the men’s and women’s levels. North Central is the choice to win the men’s race while defending women’s champion Wheaton is picked to repeat in the poll of league coaches.
High school regional volleyball championships will be decided tonight. Central Catholic faces Streator in 3A at Pontiac, while in 4A, Bloomington hosts Pekin and Normal Community takes on Galesburg in Rock Island. Lexington faces Delavan in 1A in Roanoke. In 2A, Tri-Valley takes on Maroa-Forsyth at Decatur St. Teresa, Heyworth meets St. Thomas More in Paxton, El Paso-Gridley faces Fieldcrest in Spring Valley, Eureka is at Peoria Christian and Dee-Mack meets Camp Point Central at Rushville.
