The teams with the two longest championship droughts in Major League Baseball will play one game for the championship. The Cubs won Game 6 over the Indians 9-3 to force tonight’s deciding Game 7. The Cubs scored three times in the first inning, and Addison Russell drove in a World Series record-tying six runs including a grand slam. The Cubs send Kyle Hendricks to the mound against the Indians’ Corey Kluber.

The Blackhawks beat the Flames 5-1 while the Blues lost to the Rangers 5-0.

Illinois State women’s basketball won its exhibition over Harris-Stowe 64-46. The Redbirds open the season November 11 at Arizona State.

Illinois Wesleyan volleyball swept Elmhurst. Titan sophomore Tyler Brown is the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week.

Illinois Wesleyan soccer squads are in CCIW semifinals tonight, with the women hosting Carroll and the men at Carthage.

In girls high school volleyball sectionals, Normal Community defeated Pekin and Central Catholic topped Peoria Notre Dame. Tri-Valley, Dee-Mack and Eureka won 2A sectional semifinals, and Lexington and Flanagan-Cornell lost in 1A.

Pontiac girls swimming won a triangular meet over Lincoln and host Springfield Southeast.
