In honor of the upcoming observance of Veterans Day, today’s Veteran Spotlight is Ed Long. Long spent 22 years in the US Navy, serving 11 years on carriers working as a mechanic and 11 years as a master training specialist. Long explains why Veterans Day is important to him.

“I think it’s the one day where we can honor all veterans who have served their country – the things that need to be told, the stories that need to be told and the sacrifices that were made by our forefathers. They were truly the greatest generation. The world was trying to be dominated and they fought and gave up millions of lives just to give us our freedoms. It’s very important to honor the veterans for their piece in history, because it did give us the America we have today,” Long said.
