The Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed the Bears 36-10 behind 312 passing yards by Jameis Winston while Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was intercepted twice as the Bears turned the ball over four times. The lone Bears touchdown was a 50-yard touchdown pass on a tipped ball in the end zone caught by Cameron Meredith.  The Bears travel to the Giants next week.

Other NFL winners were the Titans, Redskins, Chiefs, Eagles, Broncos, Rams, Texans, Dolphins, Cardinals, Cowboys, Ravens and the Seahawks 31-24 over the Patriots in the Sunday night contest. The Monday night game is the Bengals visiting the Giants.

The Blackhawks beat the Canadiens 3-2.

Men’s college basketball from Sunday found Illinois holding off Northern Kentucky 79-64 behind a career-high 40 points from Malcolm Hill. The Illini trailed by two at the half. McKendree visits Illinois on Tuesday night for the Illini’s third game in five nights.

Sunday’s men’s basketball also included one-sided wins for Missouri State, Loyola and Wichita State, while Delaware beat Bradley 63-49. The lone women’s game involving a Missouri Valley Conference squad found Wichita State beating Creighton 62-54.

Illinois State women’s basketball concludes the season’s first and longest road trip of the season tonight at the University of Illinois-Chicago. The Redbird women lost the season opener on Friday at Number 16 Arizona State 76-40.

Illinois State linebacker B.J. Bello was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week after eight tackles including two for loss and three solos plus two pass break-ups in the Redbirds’ regular season-ending 37-0 win over Missouri State.
